How many times do we put up with something that is broken? Not many!
At my house. My toaster broke. I know, trivial.. I went out and bought a new one.
But then one of my websites went down. Not for an extended period of time. Just long enough to piss me off. But what did I do? Deal with it.
My point is this: How many times do we accept something that is broken in out home? In our lives? Not usually. But how many times are we forced to accept something broken with technology? Usually. How often do we have to reboot our computer because it freezes? Quite a bit in comparison. And we just accept it.
How can the problem be solved? Fire lazy programmers. Better yet, don’t hire them at all. I will be the first one to admit that I am not an expert coder. I get by for my classes but it is not something I inherently ‘get.’ It takes a great deal of effort for me to code correctly. Some people can just sit down and bang out line after line. Not me.
I am smart enough to admit it though. I don’t make my profession coding. My question to you is for how long will we put up with it? How long will we admit there are bugs and actually do something about it? Thank God there are hackers who expose our mistakes. If there were no hackers, we would just blindly accept worthless technology.
