For anyone who reads JDsBlog.com, you know that I traveled to a MSDN Conference yesterday. On the way back from the conference, I got pretty involoved with a business topic in regards to uploading resumes onto a website. When you think about it, you have to create value for a consumer or user. What makes them want to upload resumes? Why do they want to come to your site in the first place?
In all honesty, this is directly correlated to all business models. In order to be successful, you have to add value to your products or services. How does a website do it? By designing a great interface. By having unmatched value. By allowing their users a list of benefits.
The same is for any product. I don’t know about you, but I love it when I buy something, and it does more than what I expect. When it has a feature that is really pretty special but you didn’t know that the feature existed. Or when you purchase a product and get fantastic service. Those kinds of scenarios build consumer trust and repeat buyers. Do the same thing for a website, and you are on your way pulling great market share.
