My friend, Thilak, wrote about how Microsoft and AMD are giving blogger’s laptops to test Window’s Vista out on. And they aren’t just any old laptops, they are Ferrari’s.
“Some bloggers received Ferrari 1000s while others received 5000s. Ferrari 5000s boast AMD Turion 64 X2 dual-core (2 Ghz) with 2Gb of DDR-2 RAM, AMD-ATI Mobility Radeon X1600, 1.3 MP camera, HD-DVD Burner and a 160 GB SATA Drive. This laptop sell for around $2,299 (Rs 1,02,191)”
Thilak goes into how this could be a bribe by Microsoft to get some good media exposure. And it in all rights is just that. But it shows the power of bloggers. As a business owner, it would be hard to justify the expense of a couple hundred laptops. But then again, Vista is selling for $300-$700. They would make up that money if 3 customers bought their operating system, based on a review.
Its not a bad deal for bloggers, and could be pretty beneficial for Windows. AMD is getting their cut in selling the Ferrari laptops. At the end of the day though, this is a big development in marketing - because it shows that bloggers have power.

I think its completely unethical to give away laptops to certain bloggers who are on the A-List or MVP List.
Its yet another nasty business idea from Microsoft.
