This is a little hard for me to believe, being that pretty much everyone I know is pushing back against Vista, but InformationWeek has an article which states Microsoft had record third quarter profits, on the back of Vista.

It would be interesting to know how many units were sold in China though, being that street vendors were selling copies of the operating system for $1.  In fact, the only people I know that have Vista are the folks that either bought a new computer or pirated it.

This latest profit announcement gives us a peak as to why XP is no longer being offered (in 2008).

For more than this little except, check out InformationWeek.com.

For the three months ended March 31, Microsoft said net income rose 65% year-over-year to a record $4.93 billion. The profits were driven by $14.4 billion in sales, a 32% increase over the previous year. Earnings per share jumped 72% to 50 cents.
